  • Awards
EVANSVILLE, IND. – (Nov. 6, 2023) –  Atlas® Van Lines, one of the nation’s leading moving companies, announces today it has awarded 14 Agents the prestigious Sustainable Agent Certification for 2023. Sustainability efforts are a challenge that requires the entire planet to work together. Atlas® knows the environmental impact of moving families and businesses around the globe and is committed to moving in the right direction on sustainability. As a result, Atlas® fosters a culture of sustainable business practices across its headquarters and expansive network of 400 Agents serving communities throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.

Atlas Agents prioritize sustainability and innovation in their operations. To earn the Sustainable Agent Certification, Agents must demonstrate success within five key focus areas of the program, including materials management, transportation, administration, facilities, and community. Agents must achieve the Associate Level standards for each of the five areas before they can apply to be certified as a Master Level Sustainable Agent, a certification requiring more stringent criteria and proof that Agents are progressing their sustainable efforts. In the past two years, the number of Agents that hold the Sustainable Agent certification has increased by nearly 20 percent.

This year’s Certified Sustainable Agents include:
Associate Level:
Apex Moving + Storage (278) – Antioch, Tenn.
Guardian Relocation (20) – Fenton, Mo.
Guardian Relocation (1032) – Indianapolis, Ind.
Guardian Relocation (1043) – Memphis, Tenn.
Guardian Relocation (1111) – Columbus, Ohio
InterWest Moving & Storage (1176) – Salt Lake City, Utah
Merchants Moving & Storage (1401) – Boise, Idaho
Mountain States Moving and Storage Company, Inc. (1451) – Salt Lake City, Utah
Walker Transfer-Powell (2140) – Kenova, W.Va.

Master Level:

Atlantic Relocation Systems (1037) – Tucker, Ga.
Atlantic Relocation Systems (1287) – Tampa, Fla.
Atlantic Relocation Systems (1679) – Tacoma, Wash.
Philpot Relocation (2611) – Tucker, Ga.

“Atlas Van Lines’ Sustainable Agent Certification continues to grow with new Agents joining the Associate Level certification and those who have moved up to Master Level certification. This program is a staple of our corporate social responsibility efforts, and we are proud to welcome more members every year,” said Ryan McConnell, President and COO of Atlas Van Lines. “The Agents who have earned certifications this year met the environmentally friendly standards of the program and have proven they are capable of reaching the annual targets to maintain it. They have made an admirable effort with their commitment to our network, industry, and planet.”

The following focus areas were determined to ensure impact is made in both the short and long term.
  1. Materials Management: Recycling waste conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces landfill space and emissions, and more. Atlas encourages its Agents to make every effort to purchase materials from sustainable and responsible sources and have a system in place to recycle all common mixed recyclables.
  2. Transportation: Reducing fuel waste is the company’s bottom line for environmental protection. Atlas movers plan for every move by finding the most efficient routes for their trucks and take great measures to reduce fuel consumption along the way.
  3. Administration: It takes an estimated 2.5 gallons of water to produce one sheet of office paper, so Atlas does its part to conserve print resources. The company has also established the Atlas World-Class Commitment Technology Standard to promote the use of digital forms, reducing paper and improving efficiency. Working towards these standards allows for digital access to real-time information on every customer’s move.
  4. Facilities: Between its Evansville, Indiana, headquarters and the many warehouse and office spaces belonging to Atlas Agents, there are significant opportunities for improving energy efficiency throughout facilities.
  5. Community: The Atlas network is dedicated to serving its communities and selecting partners with reflective values on sustainability that enable increased impact.

The awards were presented at the 76th Annual Atlas World Group Convention in Aventura,
Fla.
