Though the company itself is called the Asheville Balloon Company, these hot air balloons take off and land in the Candler, NC area. Tom Mackie, the owner, has been flying since 1980 and has a passion for hot air balloons. He is joined by a crew of three other experienced, licensed, and passionate hot air balloon pilots to ensure that each rider has a safe and enjoyable time. Rides take off each morning at sunrise, weather permitting, and champagne and hors d’oeuvres are provided to riders.

Doc Brown’s BBQ is a family owned and operated restaurant that sells Carolina-style barbecue. The owners are passionate about the quality of their food and smoke their own meats in-house. If you’re in the mood for Mexican food, Botanas and Beer is a well-loved Mexican restaurant also located in Candler. Located just over three miles from the Biltmore Estate is the Biltmore’s Antler Hill Village®, a small town also constructed for George Vanderbilt. Visitors can enjoy this quaint, picturesque village in many ways, from seeing the animals who live at the farmyards to tasting Biltmore wines from vineyards on the property.

Candler, NC is also close to Greenville, South Carolina. A mere one and a half hours away, Greenville is a viable day trip for those looking for a change of pace. The city itself is beautiful, with a gentle river winding through downtown.
