ATLAS® VAN LINES SERVES AS ‘OFFICIAL MOBILITY TEAM’ FOR DISNEY’S MICKEY: THE TRUE ORIGINAL EXHIBITION

EVANSVILLE, IND. (December 17, 2018)Atlas Van Lines®, one of the nation’s leading movers, is excited to announce that it served as the official mobility team for Disney’s ‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition.’ Developed in celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary, the immersive, pop-up art exhibition, which first debuted new works in Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles before opening in New York, is open now until February 2019.

Two of Atlas Van Lines specialized transportation group agents handled the shipment for the traveling exhibit. Alexander’s Mobility Services, located on the West Coast, handled a majority of the load, as Disney’s storage properties and two out of the three teaser locations were in California. Collins Brothers Moving Corporation oversaw the hauls on the East Coast as the exhibition opened in New York City.

“I truly appreciate our partners at Atlas Van Lines and Collin’s Brothers Moving Corporation for their help during the move,” said Don Hill, CEO of Alexander’s Mobility Services. “Having the support of these partners was the key to success for the transportation of these archives, artwork, and display equipment to the site on-time, and in pristine condition. Working with the Disney team in California and in New York was a pleasure, and I look forward to seeing the end results.”

Atlas Logistics, Inc. and Atlas World Group International, Inc., also played an integral role in the planning and orchestration surrounding the many facets needed to successfully complete such a unique and delicate haul. Atlas Logistics coordinated the trucks and equipment needed to safely move all of the pieces around the country, with shipments consisting of large Mickey sculptures, fine canvas paintings, and archived apparel merchandise. Atlas International assisted with the international pieces that were imported to the United States from artists overseas.

“We moved two shipments, one from Yokohama, Japan, and one from Madrid, Spain,” said Jim Gaw, President and COO of Atlas International. “Our agents overseas worked well with our team, as well as with Disney, in an effort to coordinate pickup from the respective artists, package their creations and ship the artworks to New York City.”

‘Mickey: The True Original Exhibition’, which is open in New York City now until February 10, 2019, is an immersive, pop-up art exhibition inspired by Mickey Mouse and his global influence on popular culture and art. The 16,000-square-foot interactive experience features original work from celebrated and emerging contemporary artists. Before the official opening in November, three artists previewed their installations in three pop-up locations across the country. The installations paid homage to three iconic pieces of Mickey Mouse merchandise – the Mickey Mouse watch, t-shirt, and plush.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to be part of this historical celebration,” said Jack Griffin, Chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “Atlas Van Lines is proud to handle the logistics and hauling components, so the world can honor and celebrate this iconic character.”
