The holidays are just around the corner, so who couldn't use an extra chunk of change? Here's a couple tips to help you get your security deposit back when your lease is up.
 
First, document any issues in your home as soon as you move in. Have your landlord sign off on damages and fix them. Second, make sure your apartment is spotless when you leave. Paint the walls back to their original color, too.

Lastly, research your local laws. There's probably a time limit to return your deposit and explain deductions. Reach out if your landlord misses the deadline, and speak up if you disagree with a decision.
