Meet the Intern: Ella, Marketing Intern (Summer '26)
Hi! I'm Ella. This summer, I joined Atlas Van Lines as a marketing intern with the goal of gaining real-world experience and learning how a large company operates behind the scenes.
Throughout my internship, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to marketing research, digital strategy, and a collaborative sustainability project with fellow interns. These experiences challenged me to think critically, collaborate with others, and grow both professionally and personally.
This blog is a look back at the experiences, lessons, and moments that made the internship so meaningful. I hope this gives you a glimpse of what it's really like to work at Atlas.
What I Accomplished During My Time at Atlas
- Digital Presence Audit & Roadmap: Independently led a comprehensive audit across the Atlas agent network, evaluating 209 digital listings, 116 agent websites, 196 social media accounts, and 413 customer reviews.
- Brand Analysis: Analyzed digital listings, website and SEO performance, social media presence, and customer feedback to identify brand visibility gaps and opportunities to strengthen the customer experience.
- Strategic Recommendations: Translated a large volume of research and data into prioritized, actionable recommendations for improving search performance, listing accuracy, website alignment, and social media consistency.
- Executive Presentation: Developed and delivered a strategic presentation to Atlas executive leadership, communicating findings, business opportunities, and recommended next steps.
- Leadership Recognition: Received recognition from the CEO, President, and COO for the quality of work, professionalism, and effectiveness of the executive presentation.
- Sustainability Initiative: Collaborated with a team of interns on a sustainability initiative focused on an in-house recycling program and campus garden, including research, cost evaluation, and long-term implementation recommendations.
More Than Moving: Shift in Perspective
Before Atlas
Before my internship, I thought of Atlas as a moving company that helped move people from one place to another. I never really knew the scope of the company. I had never considered everything happening behind the scenes to support customers, agents, and employees.
After Atlas
After spending the summer here, I discovered that Atlas is really about the people. What seems like a simple move on the surface is actually supported by teams constantly looking for ways to improve the customer experience, strengthen the agent network, and position the company for long-term success
What I'll Remember Most
"One of the highlights of my internship was leading a digital presence project from start to finish and presenting my findings to Atlas's executive team. That experience challenged me to think strategically, communicate my insights clearly, and step outside of my comfort zone. The feedback I received gave me confidence in my abilities, and the skills I developed throughout that process are ones I'll carry with me throughout my career."
FAQ About My Intership
Throughout the internship, I strengthened my skills in data analysis, research, strategic thinking, presentation development, and professional communication. I also learned how to take ownership of projects, present findings to leadership, and transform data into actionable recommendations
One of the biggest challenges was managing large amounts of data and turning it into meaningful insights. Whether I was analyzing customer reviews, social media activity, or website performance, I had to find ways to identify trends and communicate them clearly. It challenged me to think strategically and develop stronger analytical skills.
