CALL TO ORDER & WELCOME WITH JACK GRIFFIN

Forum’s call to order and welcome started with an exciting video showing where Atlas has been and how the company will continue to move forward and drive change for the industry as a whole. Atlas Chairman & CEO, Jack Griffin, challenged attendees to think differently about millennials and to consider them part of a philanthropic future. He also touched on important industry topics like decreasing shipping weights, increasing direct costs, government regulations and capacity challenges. His transparent yet optimistic demeanor prepared the audience for a panel of inspiring mobility professionals that further discussed the hottest topics in relocation today.

What an engaging group of some of the most important voices in the mobility industry! While Jack Griffin introduced hot industry topics, Joe Stackhouse prompted Scott Michael, Peggy Smith and Stephen Cryne as they dove deeper for the audience. New topics and trends challenged Forum attendees, but Cryne encouraged everyone to be inspired by knowing, “We move the people that move the world.”

Government mandates were on the minds of the panelists as they encouraged attendees to advocate for the industry as well as the flexibility of drivers. When discussing capacity challenges during peak season and the industry-wide driver shortage, it became apparent the single-origin Professional Van Operator is becoming rarer. The panel understood that the household good industry must innovate to move smaller shipments and, in the future, embrace the capacity benefits that will be provided by autonomous vehicles.

There’s no doubt audience members were motivated with new ideas and ready to take on the rest of the conference with open minds.

We know you have heard of Mark Zuckerberg, but we were blown away by his sister, the fabulous Randi Zuckerberg. As an entrepreneur, investor, bestselling author, tech media personality and mother, Randi is committed to introducing children—especially young girls in underserved communities—to tech and science in a fun way. As an early executive at Facebook, she created Facebook Live, which is now available to two billion people worldwide. After walking away from Facebook, she founded Zuckerberg Media, where she hosts her own “hackathons,” encouraging employees to spend an hour on their dream project, no matter how silly it may seem. Randi was the perfect guest to bring joy and inspiration to our attendees, as well as a little fun!
