Atlas® Van Lines Awards Five Agents with Sustainable Certifications

  • Press Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – (Nov. 15, 2022) –  Atlas® Van Lines, one of the nation’s leading moving companies, announces today it has awarded five Agents the prestigious Sustainable Agent Certification. Moving towards sustainability is a challenge that requires cooperation from the entire planet, and Atlas® understands the environmental impact of moving families and businesses around the globe. As a result, the company is committed to perpetuating a culture of sustainable business practices across its headquarters and expansive network of more than 400 Atlas Agents serving communities throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.

Atlas Agents continue to prioritize sustainability and innovation in their operations. To earn Atlas’ Sustainable Agent Certification, Agents must demonstrate success within five key focus areas of the program, including materials management, transportation, administration, facilities, and community. Agents must achieve the Associate Level standards for each of the five areas before they can apply to be certified as a Master Level Sustainable Agent, a certification requiring more stringent criteria and proof that agents are progressing their sustainable efforts. In the past two years, the number of Agents that hold the Atlas Van Lines Sustainable Certification has increased by over 16 percent.

This year’s Certified Sustainable Agents include:
Associate Level:
Coastal Van Lines, Inc. (464) — Vero Beach, Fla.
DMS Moving Systems, Inc. (800) —  Canton, Mich.
EC Moving & Storage, Inc. (845)Eau Claire, Wis.
Northlake Moving & Storage, Inc. (1535)Covington, La.

Master Level:
Johnson & Daly Moving and Storage (1228) - San Rafael, Calif.

“Atlas Van Lines’ Sustainable Agent Certification has become a staple program in our corporate social responsibility efforts,” said Jack Griffin, Chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “The Agents who have earned the certification this year met the standards of the program and have proven they are capable of reaching the annual targets to maintain it. We are proud of the strides they have made for our network, industry, and planet.”

The following focus areas were determined to ensure impact is made in both the short and long term.
  1. Materials Management: Recycling waste conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces landfill space and emissions, and so much more. Atlas encourages its Agents to make every effort to purchase materials from sustainable and responsible sources and have a system in place to recycle all common mixed recyclables.
  2. Transportation: Reducing fuel waste is the company’s bottom line for environmental protection. Atlas movers plan for every move by finding the most efficient routes for its trucks and take great measures to reduce fuel consumption along the way.
  3. Administration: It takes an estimated 2.5 gallons of water to produce one sheet of office paper, so Atlas does its part to conserve print resources. The company has also established the Atlas World-Class Commitment Technology Standard to promote the use of digital forms, reducing paper and improving efficiency. Working towards these standards allow for digital access to real-time information on every customer’s move.
  4. Facilities: Between its Evansville, Indiana headquarters and the many warehouse and office spaces belonging to Atlas Agents, there are significant opportunities for improving energy efficiency throughout facilities, including effective lighting and temperature controls, upgraded and cleaned HVAC systems, properly sealed windows and doors, and more.
  5. Community: The Atlas network is dedicated to serving its communities and selecting partners with reflective values on sustainability enables increased impact.
This year’s recipients were presented the award at the 75th Annual Atlas World Group Convention in Marco Island, Fla. For more information on Atlas Van Lines’ Sustainable Agent Certification, visit https://atlasvanlines.com/about/community-involvement/move-green.
