EVANSVILLE, Ind. (September 13, 2013) — One of the nation's leading moving companies, Atlas Van Lines, is celebrating approximately 3,000 truck drivers, otherwise known throughout Atlas agencies as professional van operators (PVOs), during its annual driver appreciation event taking place Sept. 16-20. Now in its 26th consecutive year, BRAVO (Boosting Recognition of Atlas Van Operators) initially started as a one-day celebration known as ROAD Day and has since expanded to a week-long appreciation of the hardworking individuals who travel the country and assist Atlas customers on a daily basis.

BRAVO celebrations take place at the moving company's headquarters in Evansville, Ind. and participating Atlas agencies throughout the U.S. and Canada. Gestures of appreciation range from home-cooked breakfast served on Thursday to PVOs by Premiere Van Lines in Oromocto, Neb. to a drawing for a $250 American Express gift card by EDC Moving Systems in San Antonio, Texas. At headquarters, Atlas management is treating drivers to lunch at a local restaurant each day and hosting a "Best of the Best PVO" contest where employees can nominate the best PVOs in the business. In Oakville, Ont., Atlas Van Lines Canada president Bob Clark, a former driver himself, is dining out with drivers for lunch on Sept. 16. This year, BRAVO coincides with the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Professional Truck Driver Appreciation Week, which also recognizes professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment.

"We cannot express our appreciation enough for the hardworking men and women who work tirelessly to help our customers go new places every day," said Glen Dunkerson, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. "Our staff and agency network are honored to celebrate these individuals for their long hours, dedication and the invaluable experience they bring to every move."

The Atlas PVO fleet is composed primarily of owner operators or truck drivers who own their own vehicles and contract work through either Atlas agencies or directly through Atlas. The majority of the fleet is responsible for household moving, which means these professionals are not only required to cover many miles, but they also must be skilled in managing the complexity of moving an individual's or family's entire worldly possessions while simultaneously managing their own business within Atlas' high standards of customer service and quality performance. Also included in this fleet are PVOs who are responsible for moving items that require logistics and specialized transportation handling, such as irreplaceable and historic artifacts, fine art, medical equipment and retail merchandise.

During BRAVO Week, Atlas releases its yearly King of the Road Survey results and infographic, which reveal insights from PVOs about life on the road, including their favorite restaurants, hotel chains, coffee and other on-the-road necessities. Van operators from other carriers are welcome to attend BRAVO events to discuss career opportunities and the advantages of joining the Atlas family.

Ranked among the best moving companies, the Atlas Van Lines agency network shares resources and utilizes representatives to meet with customers, prepare estimates and provide advice.
