EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Today Atlas Van Lines, in conjunction with the United Way of Southwestern Indiana, kicks off the "50 Ways to Help Your Neighbor Basic Needs Campaign." Atlas personnel will be collecting basic needs items at five area Schnuck's stores on September 24-26 and October 1-3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Atlas is participating as part of its Atlas Gives Back program, a charitable initiative that runs throughout 2010 in honor of Atlas' 50th anniversary in Evansville.
Items sought for donation include non-perishable food, toiletries, paper products, baby supplies, cleaning supplies, new clothing and new household items. The items will be distributed to the community via more than 25 local participating agencies such as the YWCA and the Boys and Girls Club.
"Atlas has been in Evansville since 1960, and we are continually looking for ways to give back to the community," said Marian Weilert Sauvey, senior vice president and general counsel, Atlas World Group. "Partnering with the United Way on this drive to collect and distribute basic needs items to our community seemed a perfect way for us to help give back."
The participating Schnuck's stores are located throughout the Evansville area at Washington Avenue, First Avenue, West Lloyd Expressway, Green River Road and Bell Oaks Drive (Newburgh).
