EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Today at Atlas' headquarters, Atlas Van Lines delivered 2,000 pairs of new shoes to four Evansville area charities. Atlas transported thousands of pairs of gently worn and new shoes as part of a shoe collection event for Soles4Souls, an international charity.

Evansville area residents donated nearly 15,000 pairs of gently worn shoes at the March 13 St. Patrick's Day Run of Luck race in downtown Evansville. Soles4Souls cleaned and shipped the gently worn shoes to people who desperately need footwear around the world. Through partnerships with footwear companies, the organization also donated new shoes to the Evansville community. Atlas Van Lines supplied a trailer for the shoe collection and transported the gently worn shoes to a Soles4Souls warehouse in Alabama. Atlas Van Lines then delivered 2,000 pairs of donated new shoes back to Evansville.

"Atlas decided to participate in this Soles4Souls collection event because we want to help give back to the Evansville community," said Jack Griffin, president and COO of Atlas Van Lines. "The new shoes Atlas transported will benefit Evansville area residents. Helping Soles4Souls repurpose gently worn shoes also allows Atlas to strengthen its commitment to environmental responsibility and conservation."

The generous donation of 2,000 pairs of new shoes was distributed to four area charities which included Evansville Christian Life Center, The Dream Center, Chandler United Methodist Church and Spencer County School Corporation. The charities will use the new shoes to supply future programs in the community.

"Our goal for the St. Patrick's Day Run of Luck race was to collect 10,000 pairs of gently worn shoes for Soles4Souls," said Jim Bush, Run of Luck race director and founder. "We were ecstatic when we surpassed our goal by collecting almost 15,000 pairs of shoes! We could not have handled the logistics of this collection event without the help of a major corporate partner like Atlas."
