EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Jack Griffin has been named the new president and chief operating officer of Atlas Van Lines, Inc. Griffin most recently served as president and chief operating officer of AWG International Inc., the parent company of Atlas World Group's international companies. In his new role, Griffin will continue to expand Atlas' footprint in the industry and will help develop new programs and initiatives to assist Atlas customers and Atlas agents around the U.S.

Griffin brings more than 15 years of industry experience to his current position. Prior to joining Atlas, he worked in various senior management roles within the domestic household goods, special products and international segments of the industry. He assumes his new role on January 1, 2010, when he will relocate permanently to Evansville from Seattle, Washington. He will continue in his role as president and COO of AWG International as well.

"Jack has done excellent work for Atlas with our three international business units, and he will apply that same expertise to our domestic van line business," said Glen Dunkerson, Atlas World Group chairman and CEO. "His experience has given him both a global perspective on our industry as well as an intimate knowledge of its nuts and bolts, and that's a winning combination as we move into 2010 and beyond."

A native of Brantford, Ontario, Griffin graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Griffin and his wife Carolynn have a 21-year-old daughter, Courtney, and an 18-year-old son, Jack. He has served in a professional capacity with the Household Goods Forwarders Association of America and the American Moving and Storage Association.
