EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Atlas Van Lines is thanking thousands of its professional van operators today for their long days, committed service and dedication to the job. The agent-owned company is celebrating its 20th annual ROAD Day, which stands for Recognizing Our Atlas Drivers, by handing out gifts, raffling prizes and honoring its 3,400 van operators who transport customers' goods across the United States.

For two decades, agents across the country have participated in ROAD Day by honoring their van operators with events such as free coffee-and-donuts breakfasts, day-long picnics and free truck weighs and local labor. This year, over 200 Atlas agents are planning to honor their van operators with a ROAD Day celebration. In addition, Atlas headquarters sends each van operator a gift. This year, all Atlas van operators will receive a boxed gift-set including a multi-tool and pocket knife.

"Van operators are a key component of the Atlas team and one of the reasons for our high customer-satisfaction marks," said Glen Dunkerson, president and chief operating officer. "We're proud to hold ROAD Day each year to honor van operators for their contribution to a smooth relocation process, and we encourage our agents to do the same."

In addition to ROAD Day events, Atlas Van Lines recently announced its annual "King of the Road" survey highlighting van operators' favorite highways, fast food restaurants, truck stops and more. Results can be viewed at

ROAD Day sponsors include gold-level supporters Kentucky Trailer and Trip Data & Safety Management Inc. With the help of these and other sponsors, Atlas buys additional prizes that are awarded on a luck-of-the-draw basis to van operators. Past prizes have included a vacation package, electronics, gas cards and much more.
