TUCSON, Ariz. — It takes a special kind of patience and precision to detail to move thousands of ancient Southwestern artifacts and archives from one museum to another. For this reason, Western Archeological and Conservation Center, a repository for the National Park Service, enlisted the services of AAA Pro Moving & Storage Inc., an Atlas Van Lines agent, to transport the irreplaceable collection.
The Tucson, Ariz.-based company used four air-ride equipped trailers to transport the museum collection from Santa Fe, N.M., to Tucson, Ariz. The collection, gathered from 18 national parks in the southwestern United States, included more than 900,000 archives and approximately 500 boxes of delicate pottery, stone and other pieces dating back hundreds of years.
"The National Park Service entrusted us with a tremendous responsibility to relocate these fragile pieces," said Paul Catinella, sales manager for AAA Pro Moving & Storage Inc. "Just as we do with every client, we responded with the highest levels of integrity and quality service to ensure every piece arrived intact and in the same condition that it was when we received it."
Museum employees began packing the collection in early February. AAA Pro Moving loaded, transported and unloaded the collection in one week during April. The collection now resides at Western Archeological and Conservation Center in Tucson, Ariz., where it is available for research.
"We were very pleased to work with AAA Pro Moving," said Tef Rodeffer, inter-mountain region museum services program manager for Western Archeological and Conservation Center. "They were extremely efficient and attentive to every detail of the move."
