EVANSVILLE — Three long-time Atlas employees have been named to lead separate parts of the carrier's Specialized Transportation Group. The trio of newly named directors will manage drivers, advanced equipment and systems that provide logistical solutions for exhibits, trade show and high-value equipment.

Phillip Wahl, 37, of Mt. Vernon was named director of fleet operations, a new position. Wahl is responsible for all dispatch-related activity for the commercial truckload and special products fleets, including fleet reporting, operating ratios, claims and driver performance.

Since joining Atlas in 1989, Wahl has served as a coordinator and operations manager for the special products division as well as a manager and business analyst for agency system design.

Wahl is a native of Dale and a graduate of Wabash Valley Community College in Mt. Carmel, Ill., and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Wahl and his wife Sheila have three children — Damon, Devon and Abby.

Paul Young, 49, of Evansville was named director of logistics services, also a new position. Young oversees the day-to-day functions of the asset management, corporate resources, recruiting and brokerage areas for the Specialized Transportation Group.

Young joined Atlas in 1987 as a manager of fleet administration. He was later promoted to director of the commercial truckload division. Before working at Atlas, Young amassed a decade's worth of experience in the transportation industry.

A native of Harvard, Ill., Young is a U.S. Army veteran who attended Western Kentucky University. Married with three children, he enjoys golf and motorcycle riding in his spare time.

An Atlas employee since 1985, Francis has worked as a dispatcher, planner and manager before assuming his current role.

Francis is a native of Evansville and a graduate of Indiana State University of Evansville. He and his wife Cindy have two children at home.
