EVANSVILLE — The American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) honored Atlas with two first-place Industry Safety Awards and a Super Driver Award for the carrier's commitment to safe practices. All three awards were presented in April at the AMSA's annual convention and trade show in Bal Harbour, Fla.
In the Industry Safety Awards class, Atlas received a Fleet Safety Improvement Award for the carrier's significant improvement in its Department of Transportation Recordable Accident Rate from the previous year. In addition, Atlas was the recipient of the Safety Initiative Award, which recognizes the top two carriers whose overall safety program is evaluated to be outstanding in the coverage of eight major safety areas.
Toney Brooks of Kenova, W.V., was the named the recipient of the AMSA Super Van Operator — Rookie of the Year Award for his safe driving practices. An Atlas driver since 2002, Toney has amassed more than 250,000 safe miles with the household goods carrier.
