EVANSVILLE, Ind. - More people across the country are moving this summer, meaning those actually doing the heavy lifting are seeing double-digit percentage increases in both revenue and the number of household moves. Evansville-based Atlas Van Lines released its May, June and July retained revenue figures today, showing a 12 percent increase in revenue over the same period in 2003 for the household goods portion of their business.

"This kind of increase is great for any business," said Greg Hoover, Senior Vice President of Sales Development. "This is our biggest and busiest summer ever, and we couldn't be more pleased."

Atlas generated retained revenue of $110.8 million during May, June and July of this year, compared to $98.4 million during the same period in 2003.

Hoover says increased confidence in the U.S. economy and the predicted increase in corporate relocations across the country are two likely reasons for the sales jump.

"We can draw a lot of conclusions from these numbers, including how well we are doing in the industry, the kinds of efficiencies we've achieved in staffing, and how our economy is changing. Corporate moves also make up a part of this tremendous increase," Hoover added.

Nearly one-third of the more than 300 corporate relocation professionals responding to the 37th Annual Corporate Relocation Survey told Atlas that they expected to relocate more employees and spend more money on relocations this year than last. In 2004, 33 percent of responding companies said that they expected relocation increases, compared to only 13 percent in 2003.

May, June, and July sales statistics:

— 2004
— 2003 $98,412,289 +3.0%
— 2002 $95,491,127 -5.5%
— 2001 $101,068,428 -2.1%
— 2000 $103,281,242 +10.1%

Atlas is no stranger to revenue and service growth measuring an 83.5 percent increase in retained revenue in the household goods sector since 1995.
