Atlas Specialized Transportation Group Holds Agency Conference at World Headquarters

January 14, 2001

EVANSVILLE, (Ind.) -- With the past three years showing significant business growth, the Specialized Transportation Group (STG) of Atlas Van Lines this spring held its second agency conference for STG sales and operations personnel. This year's conference was held at Atlas world headquarters in Evansville, Ind.

The two-day conference, attended by representatives from Atlas agencies across the U.S. and Canada, provided a forum for the topics of revenue accounting, claims, customer service, and overall business growth issues.

"The STG conference gave agency representatives the opportunity to network and get the latest information on what Atlas is doing to support its efforts in both operations and sales," remarks Bill Travelstead, vice president of Operations/STG. "The event was well-received and very successful."

The growth of Atlas STG over the past several years can be attributed to increasing business volume generated by existing Atlas agents and to a number of new agents who have affiliated with Atlas Van Lines, Travelstead said.

The Specialized Transportation Group provides transportation of new store fixtures and furniture, tradeshow exhibits, electronics, and other high-value goods such as museum exhibits and fine arts.

Headquartered in Evansville, Ind., Atlas Van Lines is the nation's third-largest carrier of household goods and ranks as fourth-largest van line overall with some 600 agents across the U.S. and Canada and more than 800 worldwide.
