Nineteen Atlas Van Lines Agencies Earn Top Quality Award

January 24, 2001

EVANSVILLE, (Ind.) - Nineteen Atlas Van Lines agencies have earned the Milton M. Hill Quality Award, one of the industry's most distinguished performance achievements. Based on 12 stringent operations and customer service criteria, the Milt Hill Award is presented only to those agencies displaying the highest level of performance within the Atlas organization. Customer feedback plays a key role in many of those 12 criteria, and agents must maintain a minimum of $500,000 in household goods linehaul and receive Atlas' Hauling Excellence Award in order to be eligible for the Milt Hill award. Atlas is the nation's third-largest carrier of household goods with some 600 domestic moving agents.

Winners of the 2000 Milt Hill Quality Award are: Ace Relocation Systems, Long Beach, CA; Ace Relocation Systems, Seattle, WA; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Tustin, CA; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Hayward, CA; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Portland, OR; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Baltimore, MD; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Nashville, TN; Alexander's Moving & Storage, San Diego, CA; Collins Brothers Moving Corporation, Larchmont, NY; DMS Moving Systems, Detroit, MI; Lee Moving & Storage, New Orleans, LA; Mabey's Moving & Storage, Albany, NY; McCormack-Payton Storage & Moving Co., Kansas City, MO; McCormack-Payton Storage & Moving Co., Wichita, KA; Powell Moving & Storage, Grand Rapids, MI; Stonehocker Moving & Storage, Davenport, IA; Thomas Transfer & Storage Co., Mountain View, CA; Walker Transfer, Kenova, WV; and Weleski Transfer, Pittsburgh, PA.

"Atlas agents across the board base their service on corporate-wide quality standards," states Dave Daniels, Atlas director of quality development. "Those Atlas agents who earn the Milt Hill quality award stand as exceptional examples of performance and customer service in our industry."

The Milton M. Hill Quality Award was established in 1996 in honor of the late Milt Hill of Alexander's Moving & Storage, who was the driving force behind the quality programs -- called the "Atlas World-Class Commitment" -- which were developed for Alexander's and then instituted throughout the Atlas family of agents.

"This is the highest number of agents to earn the Milt Hill award in a given year, and we're extremely proud of their efforts," states Mike Shaffer, chairman and CEO, Atlas World Group. "We hope their accomplishments continue to set higher standards for the entire industry."
