EVANSVILLE, (Ind.) - A new internet tracking system for shipments went live on Atlas Van Lines' Web site on Feb. 1 to assist customers in tracking the progress of their shipments on the road. The service - Internet Shipment Tracking System - is available to corporate, COD, and special-product customers. The service was tested by Atlas agents for one month before public online-access was activated, says Atlas MIS Vice President Dick Arneson.
"The tracking system provides more detailed information for our customers, and it's beneficial to Atlas agents as well because it provides greater access to real-time information on their customers' shipments." Arneson says the new tracking system also provides a city-to-city mileage guide that allows customers to determine the distance between origin and destination cities.
"We'll be working with our corporate clients during the next several months to learn from them how we can fine-tune the internet tracking system to provide the best program possible for their needs," Arneson states.
