EVANSVILLE, (Ind.) - Twelve Atlas Van Lines agencies have earned one of the industry's top quality awards. Atlas, the country's third-largest carrier of household goods, has awarded its distinguished Milton M. Hill Quality Award in 1999 to those agencies displaying the highest level of performance within the organization.
This year's winners are Alexander's Moving & Storage, Tustin, CA; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Hayward, CA; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Portland, OR; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Baltimore, MD; Alexander's Moving & Storage, Nashville, TN; Collins Bros. Moving Corporation, Larchmont, NY; Golden Van Lines, Inc., Longmont, CO; McCormack-Payton Storage & Moving Co., Grandview, MO; Paxton Van Lines, Inc., Springfield, VA; Powell Moving & Expediting Service, Inc., Grand Rapids, MI; Thomas Transfer & Storage Co., Inc., Mountain View, CA; and Walker Transfer, Inc., Huntington, WV.
Winners of the Milton M. Hill Quality Award are rated under 12 stringent criteria which combine elements of customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and process management. Customer feedback plays a key role in many of the 12 criteria, and agents must maintain a minimum of $500,000 in household goods linehaul and receive Atlas' Hauling Excellence Award in order to be eligible for the quality award.
"Overall, Atlas agents across the board consistently demonstrate the quality standards that are used to evaluate potential winners of this award," states Dave Daniels, Atlas director of quality development. "Those agents earning the Milt Hill award stand as exceptional examples of quality and customer service."
The Milton M. Hill Quality Award was established in 1996 in honor of the late Milt Hill of Alexander's Moving & Storage, who was the driving force behind the quality programs -- called the "Atlas World-Class Commitment" -- which were developed for Alexander's and then instituted throughout the Atlas family of agents.
"This is the highest number of agents to earn the Milton M. Hill Quality Award in a given year, and we're extremely proud of their efforts," states Mike Shaffer, chairman and CEO, Atlas World Group. "We hope their accomplishments continue to set higher standards for the entire industry."
With its world headquarters in Evansville, Ind., Atlas Van Lines is a major transporter of household goods and special products through some 600 agents across the U.S. and Canada and more than 800 worldwide.
