EVANSVILLE (Ind.) -- Atlas Van Lines has won a first place award for its interactive Web site, "The Atlas Interchange," in the 20th Annual Awards Competition held by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) East Central District. The Web site was the winning entry in the Marketing/Consumer Relations category, awarded from a field of 115 entries. Keller Crescent Co., a total marketing communications company located in Evansville, Indiana, developed the site for Atlas.
The Atlas Interchange at www.atlasvanlines.com was the first Web site to be launched by a major van line and currently receives an average of 1,400 visitors a day (over 30,000 a month), according to Jim Huth, director of corporate communications for Atlas Van Lines.
"With the growing use of the internet and its capabilities, we saw opportunities to enhance direct communication with our customers, increase awareness of our services, and provide a valuable online resource for moving-related issues," Huth said.
Award submissions were judged on criteria including research, planning, execution and overall results. PRSA's East Central District covers Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Highlights of the site include an interactive estimating program, an automatic Atlas agent locator, a "how-to" house for answers on everything from how to move plants and pets to moving computers, and a kid's page with games and information. The
Atlas Interchange also has a first-of-its-kind interactive day-by-day moving calendar in which consumers can enter the current date and date of their move and receive daily reminders via e-mail of all the steps necessary to prepare for that move.
In addition to the PRSA award, The Atlas Interchange has been named an InfoSeek Select Site by InfoSeek, one of the premier search engines on the internet. The site also received a Pure Gold Award from the Internet's Real Estate Library.
With its world headquarters in Evansville, Indiana, Atlas Van Lines is a major transporter of household goods and special products through some 600 agents across the U.S. and Canada, and nearly 800 worldwide.
