Military Salutes Goeson Moving & Storage, Winner of Distinguished Quality Award

April 12, 1996

Evansville, (Ind.) -- Goeson Moving & Storage Systems, Inc., an Atlas Van Lines agent located in Colorado Springs, Colo., has been named the winner of the Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC) annual Quality Award. Goeson is one of only 10 of nearly 1,200 transportation suppliers this year to be cited by MTMC, and is the first Atlas agent to win the award.

This marks the third year MTMC has given the award to recognize those transportation firms that have significantly improved the quality of service accorded the Department of Defense (DOD). All modes of transportation are considered for the award, including ports, pipelines, barges, commercial carriers, and others.

Long before MTMC ever established standards for DOD moves, Goeson Moving & Storage had implemented one of the most quality-driven programs in the moving industry. Goeson has maintained a score of 97.9 percent in MTMC's Total Quality Assurance Program.

In nominating Goeson for the award, the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office noted that, "since the turn of the century, the Goeson family and Goeson Moving & Storage has served the Department of Defense with its unique blend of quality service and professional competence. As a result, the company has become the region's most-requested agency for military moves."

MTMC noted several programs Goeson uses to ensure quality service. One such program is a computer system that tracks all shipments from booking through final delivery, allowing Goeson's office and warehouse staff to provide real-time tracking of each move and monitor customer satisfaction. Goeson also provides initial and recurring training and testing for each employee to ensure continuing proficiency in all areas of DOD requirements.

Major General Roger G. Thompson, Jr., MTMC Commander, presented the award to owners Frank and Shari Goeson during MTMC's annual training symposium in Louisville, Ken., on March 27.

Frank Goeson has served on the Advisory Board of Atlas Van Lines and presently serves on the carrier's Small Agency Committee.

With its world headquarters in Evansville, Indiana, Atlas Van Lines is a transporter of household goods and special products through nearly 800 agents worldwide.
