How to acclimate quickly to a new country [Video]

Mar 22, 2016

If your job is relocating you to a new country, it's crucial to make an effort to acclimate to the new culture. If you don't, you may find yourself feeling isolated. Before leaving, make sure you do ample research about everything from language to social customs.

Upon arriving, get involved! Make friends with your colleagues, and allow them to introduce you to the new country and culture you're a part of. You can even join sports teams, religious groups or other clubs - the more involved you are, the easier the transition will be.

Remember that it's crucial to keep an open mind about your new country, even if you feel some culture shock. Immerse yourself in the culture, try new foods and explore. It's normal to feel some homesickness, but a positive attitude will go a long way toward helping you acclimate.
